What is Replay Value Studios?

"The name 'Replay Value' actually comes from the very first comic series I started, back in high school. It was about my friends and I and focused heavily on our favorite video games. Normally, if a game has high replay value, that means it's good enough to replay again and again. Eventually, the comic evolved and moved away from video games and focused on the day-to-day, though sometimes exaggerated, lives of my close friends and I. I've always had a thing for a good story that can be told again and again, though, so the Replay Value name stuck around, even though the comic had very little if anything to do with games anymore. Eventually I wanted to expand beyond just a comic, into short animations, or an animated series, or a collection of live-action skits, all centered around this world I'd created for my friends and I and our characters to live in. So with that new scope, I thought, I could make a personal studio, and have it be called Replay Value Studios, and every creative anything I made could be put under that banner, of a story you'd want to hear again and again. It's like hitting the repeat button on your CD player or iPod when you get to a track you just want to keep listening to - which is actually where the arrows in the logos for Replay Value studios came from."

Who is Garrett Jackson?

Garrett Jackson is an aspiring cartoonist and animator. Born in the shoreside town of Santa Barbara in 1984, he grew up with a great admiration and love of classic Disney animation. Unlike normal chiildren who struggle through their teens deciding what they want to be when they grew up, Garrett was blessed with the knowledge that he wanted to be a cartoonist at a very young age and has followed that goal ever since."I was watching an episode of Chip 'N Dale's Rescue Rangers," he recalls, "and I had this overwhelming feeling of joy and excitement from it. And at that moment I knew, I wanted to make cartoons that would bring other people that same sense of happiness that I felt."

Garrett was a member of the first graduating VADA (Visual Arts and Design Academy) at Santa Barbara High School, and went on to take several semesters of traditional animation classes at Santa Barbara City College. "Ever since I was old enough to hold a pencil I've been teaching myself how to animate. I used to sneak into my dad's office while he was at work and steal his pads of post-it notes to create flipbooks." He has now set his goals on attending CalARTS in Valencia, and hopes to one day be a sketch artist at Disney or Pixar. "Until then," Garrett says, "I have so many ideas I want to share with the world. That's what Replay Value Studios is for."
